Mysoremalige Blue Filim

Carcassonne (2):

The day after visiting Carcassonne again dawned rainy. It was better to leave the castle for the next day, in case the weather improved. So I got into the car and went to Montpellier.

First of all, a small map Languedoc, a region once named by using the Language of Oc . I still remember my final European Literature, which was on the troubadours who roamed the area. The Languedoc Montpellier includes not only but also Aude (Carcassonne Region) and the old Catalan Roussillon (with its capital in Perpignan). South on the map, Catalonia.

This photo is of a church that no longer remember where I was, but I think it was still Montpellier.

Looking to leave the car in the city, discover the Aqueduct of San Clemente, a work very old is now sadly a parking :

compared Montpellier is a very old city. Nearby was a port city, and back in the eighth century, because of pirate attacks, it was decided to found a new city a little deeper (to at least have to tie up and walk a mile). This new city, Montpellier, would become the eighth largest city in France. And because of its expansion, and few were willing to walk that 1200 years ago, would recover its Mediterranean coast.

Along the aqueduct, an extensive park. Too bad the day unaccompanied

The Arc de Triomphe welcomes the city. Believe it or not, by passing two cars down there.

The city was once a part of the Crown of Aragon, Fernando famous for my namesake, who married the Purete of Isabella the Catholic. He went on to be part of the corona de Mallorca, who sold to the French to finance its war against Aragon. These triangles always end badly. And the evil-faced children played with lions as well.

In the next photo, Montpellier Cathedral. The entrance is quite strange. And by works was no way to fit it.

In the seventeenth century, the centralist and northern French Catholics besieged the city for 20 days to convince Calvinists that it was not worth dying for a little disagreement. Is that the Calvinists say about that in this world you get what you deserve, and that clearly had the capacity to become rich had been blessed by God. I guess he liked that message to the rich. But they liked the Catholics get the money to the poor. And in this city won.

also met in Montpellier Franco and Pétain, if I remember correctly, to decide if they killed or left to die in the English refugees. By the way, from here I want to give my support to Judge Garzón , who has been suspended with amazing speed, in a process that may be legal but not legitimate. To my readers Argentina, is that this judge, famous for prosecuting Pinochet, came this year to investigate a massive corruption case involving the top leaders of the main party of the English right, the PP. But not suspended for that (because they can not). Suspended him for trying out who are the bodies left in ditches Franco back in the English Civil War. According to the English version of the Punto Final law, we can not investigate any of it. But Garzón laid eggs and found them to crimes against humanity, genocide going, and under international law there is no English law that will block it. Who was charged? The old fascist and a movement akin to the PP. It was, in short, a triumph of fascism and corruption undermine democracy and justice.

Speaking of corruption, I think this is the City:

And this is all about Montpellier. I have more photos, but they are even worse than I uploaded. This does not mean it is an ugly city or without grace, by contrast, is one of the most beautiful Mediterranean cities have ever seen. Living in this city in summer and sun, must be a luxury. Although I never saw the sea, and did not see the Puerta del Peyrou, does not worry me much, because it is a city that I would return.

next day, finally get up to a castle. I almost froze, but I think those photos themselves are worth.
